dear God, thank you for a new chapter

Today was Levi's first taste of solids. There *may* have been more than a few laughs. There *may* have been some clapping and cheering. There *may* have been a whole lot of excitement. There *may* have been a game of "airplane". There *may* have been four adults standing around with cameras and videos reeling... And there *may* have been a couple of tears when it was all over. {only momma's}

Oh baby, some days you are... JUST. TOO. MUCH.

{I was going to link in with Simplicity's photo challenge, but I just clicked over to enter and realized that I missed it. Anyway... this is my "clean" baby in the before shot.}

Yes, mommy friends, just a momma-bragging post today. Feel free to gush about how gorgeous my boy is. {grin} Or, you're more than welcome to leave me tips on starting solids! Specifically, what time of day did you start the first meal? When/how did you know to transition to two "meals"? Any good recipes or on-line baby food recipe sites you've found?

P.S. If you're a member of the Mom Bloggers Club, I just started a new group for baby blogs and bump blogs. It's called Oh Baby! Come join and register your blog if that applies to you and you're interested: Oh Baby! {pregnancy & baby blogs}

Those photos are sooo cute! I wish I had taken photos of the first time my little girl had a taste of solids. It was a lot messier than your experience, I assure you! How old is he by the way?

you can gush all you want!! your boy is too cute! we just started bennett on solids last week (he's 5 1/2 months old). we started with rice cereal. and now instead of mixing breastmilk with it, we mix apple juice and rice cereal together. he LOVES it. i think he just likes that it's sweeter. we give it to him 2 times a day... around 11am and then again before bed. i think it helps him sleep through the night to have some solids before bed. next week we're gonna give him oats.
good luck with the solids! it's messy... but fun! :-)

Such a beautiful baby!!! (Of course you know that already.) And, yes, you will get the "beautiful" compliment for your baby BOY almost as much as you would have for a girl. :o) Take it from me, the mother of a four-year-old boy...who is quite beautiful and handsome all at the same time, I must say!

Thanks for visiting, following, & commenting on my blog! And for the MBC welcome. I love your blog as well! Great pictures! Oh, and Australia has always been the very top of my list for places in the world I would LOVE to visit one day! Maybe one day...

Hope you have a great weekend!

Hey thanks for following me! :)
Levi is such a cutie! I loved starting solid foods. Now there is nothing under the sun my 8 month old will not eat. We started him on solids at 4 months.
I hope solids go over well for him. There is LOTS of advice I could give you but I'm sure you know most of it. Pretty basic stuff. The only thing I can stress is one food at a time. Your never know what they will have an allergy to (in our case apples, peaches, and pears) We were able to pin point why he was getting the rash because I always did and still do one at a time. GOOD LUCK MOMMA! LET THE MESS BEGIN :)

How cute. Documenting this milestone is a MUST! :-) Another super simple and easy solid is organic, non-sweetened applesauce...so much less expensive then tiny jars (we did all Earth's Best at first) and then kind of hit a DUH! moment that Blake could eat some real "human" food too :-)

Adorable pics!
Just remember things will go best if you wait to feed him during the time of the day he's in the best mood. (they will be more likely to accept a variety of foods)
My little guy is always the best after his afternoon nap so I feed him during dinner. He loves it because he feels included and like a "big boy".

Awww what a milestone. Start with cereal first and leave it up to your baby to tell you when to feed him. Feed him when he's in a good mood and hungry! I made all of my son's baby food. Its super easy. Check out

I have a few stuff that can be baby food on my blog. The butternut squash soup and lentil soup. Fresh avocados are great first baby food too. Start out slow in case of allergies and then gradually add to his diet. Good luck and most importantly have fun (= Levi is so precious!

These pictures are so sweet! It brought back all the memories from when Georgia tried cereal for the first time. Levi looks like he really enjoyed his first solid meal! Congrats Mama on meeting another big milestone!

So adorable! And you have every right to make it a big deal...eating solids for the first time is such an exciting thing!!

Rice cereal is great for a mid-morning snack, or an evening snack.

Once they've got the hang of the cereal you can add a fruit or veggie baby food around lunch time. Have fun! My doctor always recommended starting veggies first because if you start fruits first they might not want to try the veggies.

How much fun! Introducing new foods to my girls is one of my favorite things to do as a mother. My advice is don't stress about it too much, one meal, two meals, three meals, you'll know when he's ready for more. And don't forget to add some spices when he's had a few things (cinnamon and nutmeg are great). They enjoy it and it helps them learn to like not so bland foods.
