dear God, thank you for big, ridiculous toys that allow mommy to take a shower

I thought I'd be the mom that would never buy gigantic play centers like this. Because, you know, kids like to play with shoes and wooden spoons and remote controls... But then Levi started crawling and Target had a sale and... I changed my mind.

A friend of mine refers to their monster toy conglomerate as "baby jail" for when she needs a few minutes with the baby contained somewhere safe.

I like to think of ours as "baby heaven"... where the ammo for chomping is never beyond reach...

...and where big boy gets to "stand up" as much as he wants without depending on mama's help.

Really, it keeps everyone happy... for 20 minutes at least.

Dear mommy-friends, what are your favorite ways to keep your baby imprisoned entertained while you "get stuff done"?

I don't have kids, myself, but I can totally understand that sometimes you need to be able to put him down and not have him crawling all over the house! And he looks happy which is what matters :)

Hahaha how adorable! My singing and dancing in the shower seems to entertain them or maybe I am confusing it with them being in total shock...

Your little man is adorable!

Cute pictures. My Squish had a jumper, but never liked it for more than 5 mins. So I bought a highchair on wheels, and would wheel it into our bathroom while I shower, or just have it in the main room while I cleaned/folded laundry. I would attach toys to the sippy cup straps and put books on the tray. It worked for a while, then we got a super playyard, which now doesn't work bc he figured out he is strong enough to push it...
I am now converting our dining room into a playroom. Thanks for your kind comment on my post, let me know when you link up, and I will link it up on my blog too!

Those activity centers/exersaucers saved my life. I didn't think I'd be into those garish things either, but wow, what a difference a jail makes! ;)

Ha ha, yeah when Target has a sale- I'm in trouble!!! If he likes it, use it! That's my philosophy.

OH I love how these give us just minutes, whether to run to the potty, take a shower, have 15 minutes to feed ourselves with BOTH hands, or just minutes of knowing exactly where they are!

LOL! How adorable, great pictures! Yes we actually purchased on just for our huge bathroom, so that I could pop Z in when I needed a shower and he entertained himself for a few minutes. Why waste precious nap time if you don't need to! Of course now that he is way to big for it, I must do it before he wakes or during a nap, or if I am in desperate need I just pop him in the crib for a few minutes- he usually loves playing in his crib anyway!

This here contraption was very much a life saver, for us and for our little ones. But now that the little man is walking, all bets are off. If I even THINK of putting him in it, he screams. It was so nice while it lasted. Now I put him next to a box of toys and he'll entertain himself by dumping the toys out. Good 20 minutes of blogging time right there, I tell you what.

I loved Georgia's exersaucer! It WAS pretty big, and took up a lot of space in our living room. But she loved playing in it, and it let me cook dinner every night. I have to say that we're pretty much past containing Georgia anywhere! Her new favorite contraption for entertainment are her crayons. She's happy to sit at the table in her booster and color on paper while I get dinner together or do laundry. Enjoy this time - before you know it, it's going to be a whole new stage of joys and challenges!

OMG! Adriel I love the title of this post. You totally read my mind!
Just the other day I posted on my fbook fan page about how I didn't get a chance to shower before my hubby went to work, and how the heck was I gonna get clean with 2 crazy kids! Showering with kids is so not fun!
We sadly gave our exersaucer away after my son grew out of it, so are gonna have to drop the $$ once again, in a couple months.

Great post! I am really bad because I have something like this for each floor of the house. With O it was the only way I could shower. I put him in it till he was 1 1/2. Little B is just learning the joys of the jumparoo.

Nothing wrong with that! I would've died for something like that when my boys were babies!

I had one of those and I loved it! I would never have gotten a shower either if it wasn't for the saucer. What better toy then one that keeps them totally entertained and contained at the same time LOL. I hope you have a great week! The pictures are too cute BTW!

I remember those days all too well! Yes, Amen to those toys!

I loved my exersaucer, jumper, baby gym, walker and anything else that kept my daughter contained long enough for me to take a shower or eat or take a minute to catch my breath. Now that she's walking she'll have none of it and I miss the days of quiet imprisonment.

My sister-in-law has one of those, and she swears by it as well! With Isaac, we literally *wore out* a walker. It was just one of the basic models with detachable toys, but by the time he outgrew it, the butt was held together with duct tape and the wheels were starting to jam up! It gave me a few moments to catch up on things, but not really time for a shower. I was too nervous he would pull something down on himself or run over one of the cats!

I didn't know Baby Einstein made those! Thanks for the pics, I just have to get my son something similar.

LOL We used to call those "neglect-asaucers" and I would defend mine to the grave. No one wants to see me un-showered for days on end. Just sayin'.

That is so funny that you posted this! I still put my 18 month olds in their "baby jail" (that's exactly what i've been calling it) so I can get things done while making sure the boys are safe.
They don't mind and if it gives me at least 15-30 minutes to get something accomplished it's a God send!
BTW...thanks for visiting my blog, your comments and helpful advice.

We definitely have one of these. Very helpful!! But we bought ours at one of those used places & now I wish I had one of the expensive ones that bounces a lot & is like this rather than the doorway bouncer because we're having the problem where Isis pretty much bumps her head on the side of the doorway everytime she gets in that!
