dear God, thank you for family life down under.

levi: "look daddy, he's just my size!"

two mamas and our joeys. xx

levi: "mama, what is this fuzzy, furry thing?"
mama: "that's the zookeeper, sweetie. he's holding a wombat."

just another family photo with a big, fat snake. {as you do.}

did someone just throw a water balloon at my son? or is that really just drool?

levi: "my dad is special."

my little croc hunter and his lovely assistant. {ahem, *grin*}

nervous ryan? cuz levi sure isn't...

my little koala with his newest furry friend.

Dear mommy-friends... the wildlife is one of the things that make living where we do special and fun. What is it about your city/state/area that makes it special? What are the things you help your kids experience so that they'll enjoy--and have good memories of--the place they grow up?

Okay, the animal pictures are freakin' hilarious! I think what makes our state awesome is the outdoor sports, not that my husband or I are remotely athletic. But we've recently taken up hiking - there's a million different trails, and most are kid-friendly. It's a great family activity for us. But we'll move in the next year or so to somewhere else, so hopefully this will be a hobby we can take with us to our next home!

Seriously adorable pictures of you guys, oh...and that little boy of yours is super cute too!

The one's with the snake are like the perfect oxymoron pictures...cute & cuddly baby...and, well...the snake.

We have been building, what I hope are happy memories, for our children by taking them to the many different parks in the neighborhood as well as some NYC landmarks like Coney Island. I can't wait until they are a little older & we can take them into Manhattan to Central Park and all the amazing museums they have in the city.

So I love the animal pictures, although I don't think I could do the snake. What makes my state awesome? I can think of two different things. The first would be from where we live you can drive 2 hours east and be on the beach or you can drive 2 hours west and be in the mountains with great hiking places, ski resorts and a great lake. The second thing about where we live is the water and boating. It is so much fun taking our boys out on the boats and spending the day on the water.

Ummm. That snake picture is awesome! Your zoo is WAY more hands-on than ours.

San Diego is the perfect place for raising kids and just living in general. I live 10 minutes from one of the most beautiful beaches in The United States, an hour from the mountains, and 20 minutes to a foreign country. That makes for lots of adventure.

Plus, having The World Famous San Diego Zoo, Sea World, and other tourist attractions means there is always something fun to do. The near-perfect weather allows us to get outside every day. I panic on the occasional rainy day- I don't know what to do with myself!

Finally- can you say Blogher11? I'm so excited!!!

I'm with Jill. I love your pictures, but my hubs would flip his lid if I got our baby that close to a snake (bc he is super afraid of them. But seriously how neat!
Living in Las Vegas, one of the neat things is that we can drive 1 day and be in any kind of climate. Beach, Snow, hiking, swimming... we have access to it all. Which a lot of places in the US can't say. :)

Sweet! We aren't able to get that close with that many animals at our zoos. My boys would love it! A couple of weeks ago they got to pet a giant python, and they couldn't stop talking about it!

I was showing these to Lewis & we were like, "oh my gosh we have to take Isis to Australia!!" Except she would probably poke that snake in the eye & we'd have all kinds of problems...

Great photos! What an amazing zoo to take Levi to! I love the croc hunter one.

The Bay Area is pretty amazing as far as beautiful outdoor excursions, from the beach to redwoods to mountains just a couple of hours away. But we don't have koalas, so hopefully we'll get to take Q to Australia some day!
