I can’t remember when I first fell in love with sleep, but I definitely remember sleeping in until noon on the weekends as a teenager.
I also remember sleeping in until 10:30am on the weekends during my twenties.
And in my thirties I now spend time “dreaming” about sleep.
I have dreamt of sleep while tossing and turning in bed at 2:00am with pregnancy insomnia. I’ve dreamt of sleep while nursing my newborn at 3:00am. I’ve dreamt of sleep while rushing like a madwoman to get things done at 11:00am during my baby’s nap times. And I’ve dreamt of sleep (“just one more hour”) while lying in bed awake at 7:00am listening to my chatterbox toddler in the room next door.
I still love sleep. I probably always will. Always a night person, never one to enjoy the getting-out-of-bed process in the morning…
But these days I also get a lot of joy and satisfaction from seeing others sleep.
Again, behold:
In my opinion, that's an eyeful worth looking at twice.
How can you not love a sight like that? Father and son sharing an afternoon snooze. If I weren’t so busy adoring I just might be jealous.
Sleep, glorious sleep.
Dear friends, how’s your sleep life lately?
sleepy,
linking in with faith:
I am completely in the same boat. I dream of sleep all the time ;)
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love sleep! I nap with my son on the weekends. :)
ReplyDeleteHa ha I love sleep, but for some reason I never get enough of it. I have never been a big napper... wish I was, though! Adorable photos! :)
ReplyDeleteHow sweet :) I can SO relate... I haven't gotten enough sleep in ages. Your photo is just adorable. Thanks so much for linking up!
ReplyDeleteOh sleep! How do I miss thee! It's funny though; even on the weekends when I have the opportunity to sleep while Jeremy gets Gigi up in the mornings, I find that I just lay there wide awake. It feels like I'm missing out on all the fun of the morning just laying there in bed, even though I would love a few more hours of sleep.
ReplyDeleteYour picture is just adorable, and definitely worth seeing twice. :)
I'm a sleeper, too. Like you, my hours seem to be declining a bit... and I fear for when I have to operate on 3 hours of sleep or less when it comes time for little kiddos. You give me hope that it's possible though :)

sigh. sleep. i'm starting to think i probably won't get to sleep decently until i'm finished having children and they are all off at college haha. I keep thinking eventually Riley MUST start sleeping through the night, right? Ha. Oh well, it's amazing how much you get used to so little sleep!
ReplyDeleteOh me too - so not a morning person. I wake up before my little one - only because if I didn't she would have inadequate care. I cannot function in the am right away. I miss sleep.
ReplyDeleteI love sleep too, I'm still in that group - twenties who sleep in late! One day I hope to have someone to get me up out of bed early in the morning and to cause sleepless nights though. Don't think I'll be looking at it that way when the time comes though!
ReplyDeleteFor now I'm focussing on what makes me happy and sleep is one of them. Every Friday I do a link up about the things that make me happy each week - can't belive I haven't included sleep as one yet!
Have a lovely day,
Jade
I love sleep, too, and luckily I haven't yet been plagued with pregnancy insomnia (fingers crossed). Nya is also sleeping better now, which is nothing short of a miracle.
ReplyDeleteI am a big nap person or early bedtime because usually I can't stay in bed past 8 am (even if I'm really, really tired).
p.s. Thanks for the comment on my blog! I appreciate you sharing your perspective!
I hope you are enjoying your day!
If I were into polygamy, I would take sleep as my second husband. Yes, another lover of sleep here. You know what quote I hate? You can sleep when you're dead. It's like, no, I won't be alive to enjoy it then!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, those sleeping photos are so precious. I adore watching my boys sleep. And I can't wait to watch my little girl sleep -- aren't those newborn sleeping smiles the best?
Precious photo...I to DREAM about sleep!!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love to sleep! I never get to anymore, lol, but I still love it. The teething monster is visiting so sleep is a rare thing at the moment. Gorgeous picture! You have such a beautiful family, thank you so much for sharing these moments!

Aww! That's such a cute picture! I love sleep but I often find it hard to get any. :)
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through My reflection of something btw. And I'm loving it!:)
Oh, that is such a gorgeous scene. I can't say that's every happened at our place - not that the hubs doesn't snooze well, but those Tsunamis of mine are unlikely to join in! So, yes, I DREAM OF SLEEP all the time. One day, one day... x
ReplyDeletePS - "Hi!"!! x
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I very often (as in ALWAYS) wake up wondering when I can go back to sleep! Getting up for work, I'd wonder when I could get a nap. With pregnancy insomnia, I'd wonder when I'd fall asleep. And yes, with my infant son, I wonder when he's ever going to sleep through the night!
ReplyDeleteFor me that time around 4-5AM is the worst. Not quite night, but not quite daytime yet. Uggghhhhh.
You know when people ask you of your dream "me time"...SLEEP!
ReplyDeleteAww! That photo is soooo sweet! Mine for Faith's challenge was done daddy-son sleep love as well! Before I had a baby I thought sleep was a waste of time... now I wish I had appreciated it more ;)
ReplyDeleteYour photography is amazing! Love these photos!
