our hunch was right

We're having another...

What an awesome privilege to raise boys in a world that needs a few more good men! And... I'll still be able to sign our family letters "love Adriel & the boys" which I've grown quite fond of. Bonus.

We're so excited to think about the bond of brothers and how much fun they will have together. No doubt they will keep me busy (and in the kitchen!), but I am genuinely glad to be welcoming another little dude into the family and let his tiny heart invade mine own. Levi has made me fall in love with little boys in a way that I never thought possible. And of course Ryan is thrilled to have another member of the soccer team. Or basketball team. Or football team. Whatever. (Joke, people! They can join the ballet for all we care.)

Now it's onto the challenge of thinking of boy names, which we find much harder than girls names!

Baby is 19 weeks along and we look forward to my doctors appointment next week to hear all of the results of the scan. Can't believe this pregnancy is nearly half finished already! Yikes. It is flying by.

We love our baby boy Booker and thank God for his precious life.

Dear friends, that's all from me today. Just wanted to share our wonderful news! Do you have any advice for being a mom to boys?? And in celebration of one year of the Memos (and boys all around!) make sure to check out my pregnancy and baby-related giveaways below.

  1. Congrats Adriel! I'm so excited for you. I would be lying if lying if I said I didn't struggle initially with the thought of having our 2nd boy since I so badly wanted a girl. However, now 2 1/2 years in to it I LOVE having 2 boys so close in age. Love it. They play so well together, and are already great friends. Yes, they have their moments, but it's so much fun watching them grow together. And you're so right...it's such a privilege to raise the next generation of men.

  7. My children are two years apart in age (now 4 & 2) I had the boy first and the girl second and let me tell you, they fight like cats and dogs! They have nothing in common and she's VERY high maintenance, has been since birth.

    Two boys will be PERFECT.

  14. Congrats. Boys are fun and watching two boy grow up and have a bother bond is the best. I always wanted a girl and a boy but I got two boys and I would not change it for the world. Get ready for dirty everything, trucks everywhere and good sloppy kisses with dirt and sand mixed it. Get ready for messes and sticks and all the fun of boys. Yeah boys!

  15. Congratulations! Such lovely news! Choosing a baby name is so hard isn't it?! I always liked Luca for a boy if Miss C was going to be a boy.

  16. Yay for more litle boys! One of my friends told me that it is such an honor to raise boys because the world is in such need of strong, Christian men....I loved that! Not that I wouldn't love a girl just as much....but it still made me happy that God would entust me with such a task! Can not WAIT to hear your name!!

  18. I am very excited to hear the name you guys pick, after your hubby has his lion king moment, of course. I feel so much the same about my little chic, I thought I wanted a boy my whole pregnancy (was convinced I was having one). I am not very knowledgeable in the ways of being "girly", it scares me, lol. Surprise, surprise, I have the most beautiful little girl, and she is exactly what my heart was yearning for! It is amazing how uplifting and healing and just truly remarkable having/raising a child/children is. I am so very happy for you and your hubby, and wish you both all of the good life has to give!!

  19. Congrats on your second boy! I know I told you this on Twitter, but having two boys really does rock! So much energy and so much fun, and I never knew how cuddly and sweet little boys could be until I had two of my own. I'm pretty smitten with mine. Sending you lots of positive energy.

  20. Our oldest child is a girl, but the next 2 are boys, who are now 7 and 4. One thing I appreciate about my wife is how she makes room for them to be boys. When they are young, we do need to have a high level of discipline so they can learn the importance of considering and respecting others. But our sons need me to let them be rough and wild at appropriate times. They need me to wrestle with them, to make messes (and to clean them up), to go on adventures, to swing them really high.

While my wife is a good balance of helping me remember to be safe and sane, she is careful to not step in and "protect" them when we are doing crazy boy things. Don't be afraid of them getting hurt!

When they get older, get this book: http://differentway4kids.blogspot.com/2011/03/recommended-mini-weapons-of-mass.html

    Have fun!

  21. Congrats to you! I love same sex siblings and the bond that will form. Hooray for another sweet boy. It's so strange - I have 3 girls and my brother has 3 boys and neither of us would want it any other way.

  22. Congrats! Having two boys close in age is SO much fun! My little guys are just 19 months apart. The are still quite young but have a lot of fun entertaining each other... and they are already eating us out of house and home!

  29. I think I already said, Congrats, but I can't remember! Total mom brain today. Anyway, congratulations! Watching siblings together is amazing. For some reason, my husband (who is picky about almost nothing) was REALLY picky about names for our daughter but we agreed on the name for our son very easily. Go figure.

I'm busy with my two year old twins boys who are wonderfully awesome. so great to hear that your pregnant and expecting another boy. You will do great.
